Project Overview
This project is for a US customer who purchased two sets of screw conveyors for calcium carbonate handling. Each conveyor is 6 meters long with a diameter of 159 mm. During the design phase, we fully evaluated the difficulties brought by the long equipment body in transportation and on-site installation, and optimized the structure to deliver a practical, high-efficiency customized solution.
Customer Requirements
- Equipment specification: Two screw conveyors, 6m length, 159mm diameter.
- Transportation challenge: The full 6m length creates difficulties for container shipment and delivery.
- Installation limitation: Conventional floor support brackets take up valuable floor area and restrict the flexibility of the customer’s plant layout.
- Feeding demand: The customer plans to adopt manual feeding, and the standard small inlet cannot meet manual loading operations.

Solution & Implementation
1. Two-section Split Structure for Convenient Transportation
To solve the transportation problem of the 6m long machine, we adopted a two-section segmented design for each screw conveyor. The two segments are connected with lifting rings. The equipment can be packed and shipped separately. This design cuts down transportation space and simplifies on-site assembly after delivery.
2. Suspended Installation Design to Save Floor Space
Instead of the traditional inclined mounting with bottom support brackets, we designed a suspended installation structure. Circular lifting lugs are fitted on the middle part and above the discharge outlet. The customer can hang and fix the conveyors based on site conditions. This eliminates floor supports and greatly improves the flexibility of equipment layout.
3. Large Square Hopper for Manual Feeding
The standard 159mm round inlet is too narrow for manual feeding without upstream equipment. We replaced it with a 450×450mm square feed hopper with a height of 450mm. The larger opening facilitates manual material feeding operations.

Project Value
We took transportation, assembly structure and site layout into full consideration and delivered a customized screw conveyor solution matching the customer’s actual working conditions.
This case demonstrates our design philosophy: we focus not only on the conveying performance of the equipment, but also on the customer’s whole-cycle demands covering transportation, installation and daily operation. We keep providing practical, reliable and customized solutions for every project.
